Due to changes in survey content availability, the construction of individual Asian subgroups changed beginning with the 2015 CHIS cycle. Because of the difference in constructs, estimates for Asian subgroups are not directly comparable between datasets prior to CHIS 2015, and datasets after CHIS 2015.

Prior to CHIS 2015, if a respondent mentioned belonging to more than one Asian subgroup, he/she was classified as the Asian subgroup the respondent most identified with. The 'most identified with' variable was not available for CHIS 2015. Beginning with CHIS 2015, individuals belonging to more than one Asian subgroup are classified as 'Other / More than one subgroup '.
